Netherlands candidate for WCA Euro 2020

Every two years there is a European Championship Speedcubing. Speedcubing Nederland is candidate for the organisation of the next European Championship: WCA Euro 2020. We are proud to present you our proposal (PDF) for WCA Euro 2020. The proposal was sent in July to the WCA board, who will decide in August if we may organise the European Championship Speedcubing in 2020. In our proposal we aim for a great competition for both competitors and visitors. Enjoy reading!

Organisation team

Our central organisation committee (core team) consists of four staff and board members of Speedcubing Nederland, reinforced with three valuable and appreciated organisers from abroad: Ron van Bruchem, Ronald Mansveld, Philippe Virouleau, Henrik Buus Aagaard, Hans Bennis, Heleen van de Ree and Sandra de Geeter. A lot of work has also been done by Anja Deij-Provoost.  European champion Mats Valk is involved as an advisor.

Almere and Amsterdam

In Almere, only 25 minutes away from the heart of Amsterdam, we have found a very suitable location: Topsportcentrum Almere. On the former seabed, how Dutch can you have it? With metropolis Amsterdam at your fingertips.

More than just a big competition

WCA Euro 2020 Almere-Amsterdam will be more than ‘just a big competition’. We want competitors, their families and spectators to have an unforgettable time: meeting friends, making new friends, discovering the Netherlands and learning new things about cubing. So we will not only provide a superb competition program, but also a variety of other activities. In the Fun Zone, the main hall and in/around the city.
